San Francisco Fishing Report 1/3/16

Happy New Year fishermen,

Our new year started off with a bang! Filip landed the first keeper on my first trip of the New Year and it went 59 inches! Captain Jonathon ran 2 trips just before New Years Day. On the first trip they landed 6 sturgeon and on the second trip they landed 5 sturgeon. I ran 2 trips after New Years Day. They were short trips as the only good tide we could fish was the ebb tide. The wind and the weak flood tides were not going to work in the area I wanted to fish. I gave the guys a deal as we were fishing short days, from about 10:00 am to 4 or 5 pm.

Even with the short days we still landed 7 fish. We broke off two really good sturgeon on the first day and landed the 59 incher. The second day we landed 5 sturgeon. Eel has been the top bait. We have been fishing between the Benicia Bridge and the ships, so very short runs to the fishing grounds. The tides have not been ideal but we still had good action. I think it is because of the fresh water coming down. The tides are now building and will be premium for the next two weeks, especially with the rain. I will be running trips every day when the weather allows. Call me if you are interested in a trip. Enjoy the photos of the keepers from the last few trips.
